There has
been a huge shift in how we use and interpret workspaces in the last few years;
Trends which seemed grounded in workspace design forever have started to
dwindle to make way for new, modernised trends that are paving the way forward in
the office industry.
We’ve put together a list of some of the workplace trends that we think will define 2023.
BIGGER FOCUS ON DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Diversity and inclusion are fundamental in businesses of today. A wide, healthy and creative variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures not only provides businesses with a balance of voices, perspectives and ideas but also creates a more accepting and comfortable environment for employees and for attracting new talent.
Creating a diverse and inclusive working environment will not only lead to an increase in innovative and creative ideas coming out of projects and meetings but will also help businesses to stand out and expand in the long run, creating a space where employees feel comfortable to voice their opinions and ideas and collaborate with others on projects.
GREATER EMPHASIS ON UPSKILLING AND TRAINING
Upskilling,
reskilling and training employees is set to become one of the biggest trends of
2023. Promoting continued learning and development will not only elevate a business’s
company culture, but can also boost employee job satisfaction, bringing out the
best of each and every employee.
Reskilling within a business can lead to an increase in productivity and creativity, and may even uncover talents and skills that an employee was unaware they had, leading to new opportunities for them within the business.
Businesses that are able to provide opportunities for upskilling and training in the workplace are much more likely to be able to hold on to and attract new and exciting talent to their business.
INCREASED FLEXIBILITY IN THE WORKPLACE
Businesses are focusing more and more on employee flexibility and work-life balance of late, and it’s sure to continue all the way through 2023. Allowing employees to work flexibly, whether that be within the workplace, using breakout spaces, quiet zones and non-identity desking instead of traditional, typical desk and chair, or allowing employees to work between the home and the office, allowing for focus on a range of tasks and projects throughout their working week.
Prioritising employee well-being could take many forms in the workplace. Many businesses have introduced soft seating and breakout spaces into the workplace, using them for meetings, socialisation, collaboration or even a quiet space for employees to focus away from their desks. Working in a comfortable and relaxed environment not only boosts productivity but also creates a positive atmosphere around the whole workspace.
OFFICES TO GO EVEN GREENER
Businesses are becoming increasingly aware of how they can impact the environment by becoming sustainable in all aspects of workplace life.
Having a green and creative office is perhaps the most attractive quality that new and existing talent are looking for.
Using eco-friendly products, incorporating natural lighting, and creating an all-around greener feel with real or imitation plants are just a few ways that businesses can make an impact and show their clients and employees that they’re committed to creating a biophilic environment.
We believe that these trends will define the workplace in 2023.
